How SierraSil Works

How SierraSil Works

SierraSil® is a powerful natural mineral supplement that can be taken by anyone wanting to improve their overall health, and experience more energy and endurance. Through clinical research and other scientific testing, SierraSil® has been proven to significantly reduce inflammation that causes joint and muscle pain – and the benefits are usually seen within 2 weeks of taking SierraSil®.

SierraSil® is different than conventional joint therapies, as unlike other joint health products, SierraSil® is a naturally-occurring combination of earth minerals, which can not be synthesized in the body and thus must be consumed in the diet. Other best-selling joint health supplements, such as glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM, are animal-based or sourced from steroids, hormones or enzymes already manufactured by our bodies. In addition, people are switching from conventional anti-inflammatory drugs such as NSAIDs or COX-2 inhibitors due to the well-documented side effects associated with these drugs.

But how does SierraSil® benefit joint health?

To investigate the mechanism of SierraSil®’s therapeutic effects on joint function and mobility, a Mechanism of Action study was conducted by Mark Miller and a team of researchers at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 2004. Miller and his team found that SierraSil® reduces inflammation and down-regulates specific enzymes involved in the inflammatory process, thereby inhibiting the breakdown of human cartilage by 63% to 78%, as measured by the reduced amount of degraded cartilage debris (glycosaminoglycan (GAG) release). Osteoarthritis (OA), the most common form of arthritis in which the cartilage covering the ends of bones breaks down, causing unprotected joint endings to rub together. Cartilage degradation causes pain, swelling, reduced joint mobility, and stiffness, and these symptoms increase with the degree of cartilage breakdown.

NF-κB regulates over 30 genes associated with inflammation, including cytokines and adhesion molecules, but those of particular relevance to cartilage are inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and metalloproteases (MMPs). SierraSil® was also shown to reduce gene expression of cytokine IL-1β, a primary initiator of cartilage breakdown, thereby effectively reducing the production of matrix MMPs and nitric oxide (NO) release in human cartilage samples obtained during knee surgery. MMPs are enzymes that actively digest the cartilage matrix, releasing degraded glycosaminoglycans. Miller’s research demonstrates that by preventing cartilage breakdown through enzymatic and genetic mechanisms, SierraSil® protects against joint pain and inflammation.

I have used SierraSil now for about 2 years. I realized how much it really helped when I forgot to take it with me on a vacation. I was in much pain without it.
